Rosenberger Duplex Connector RDC – new models available!
After the successful market introduction of the N-based outdoor connectors “Rosenberger Duplex Connector” (RDC) last year we now expanded this connector system with a number of new variants.
Originally conceived as a connector system for the connection of mobile communications antennae, the robust connector soon became interesting for a broad spectrum of further applications. Its robust design and the excellent cost-performance ratio now also enable good value use of fiber optics in industrial, mining and sensor technology fields.
There are now further variations available for all applications. Two flush-mounted boxes with new flange types and a wired socket complete the portfolio. In addition a connection to further attractive cable types is also possible.
Ericsson - Rosenberger "Supplier of the Year 2008"
Ericsson honours Rosenberger with the "Supplier of the Year 2008"-award. Hans Rosenberger and Harry Rausch received this outstanding award during the Ericsson-Suppliers' Day which took place in Stockholm recently.
Ericsson awards the "Supplier of the Year" to excellent suppliers since 2007, the prize for 2007 went to IBM company.
Rosenberger-OSI sets course for a successful future!
Since 1 April 2008 Thomas Schmidt has strengthened the management team at Rosenberger-OSI as a second Managing Director in Augsburg alongside the shareholder of many years’ standing, Reinhold Nar.
"The consistent international orientation of the company and the further opening up of global markets with innovative and high quality solutions for modern data technology from Rosenberger-OSI make this step necessary and it is the logical result of the successful expansion course of the company over the past few years,“ commented Reinhold Nar on the decision.
Thomas Schmidt will be responsible for the Marketing, Sales and Financial Controlling departments in future and he will concentrate on opening up and developing new business fields. “ In the past, Rosenberger-OSI made great achievements in developing new products and conceiving complete processing centres and it will also prove its ability here impressively in the future,“ according to Thomas Schmidt.
As a member of the Rosenberger Group, Rosenberger-OSI is optimally aligned for international business according to Schmidt. “Closeness to the customers, short delivery times, high quality cable solutions and excellent service are the key factors for the success of a globally active company.”
Schmidt is particularly looking forward to being able to offer his customers solutions for modern data infrastructure which leave nothing to be desired in terms of high availability, security and reliability.
Thomas Schmidt
Thomas Schmidt, who was born in Sulzbach-Rosenberg, studied Non-metallic-inorganic Material Technology at the Georg-Simon-Ohm Fachhochschule in Nuremberg which he concluded successfully with a qualification as a Diplom-Ingenieur (Engineering diploma).
Schmidt made his first experience as a Product Manager in the marketing department of Leonischen Drahtwerke AG. He was responsible for the fibre optic cable product programme.
Due to his successful work and his expertise in this area he took over data cables product management at LEONI AG. His responsibilities included the fibre optic cable product programme and copper data cables.
In addition to management tasks in Sales and Marketing at LEONI Fiber Optics GmbH he was quickly given a position as Managing Director at LEONI Fiber Optics GmbH and LEONI NBG Fiber Optics GmbH (Austria), as well as management responsibility for the Business Unit Fiber Optics at LEONI AG.
A name becomes program – PreCONNECT®
In 1991 Rosenberger-OSI was the first company to launch a factory assembled fiber-optic cabling system with the name PreCONNECT® in the European market. With our PreCONNECT® HIGH DENSITY and our PreCONNECT® SMART PLUG, we are introducing to you type HDCS-G1 (-> PreCONNECT® HIGH DENSITY) and type HDCS-G2 (-> PreCONNECT® SMART PLUG) with a new name for the modern and structured cabling of integrated data networks. The PreCONNECT® HIGH DENSITY (HDCS-G1) offers you the multifiber connection system MTP®-12 fibers and the patchfield connection system MU-duplex-horizontal and LC-duplex; all three are ultra-high-density connection systems. The PreCONNECT® SMART PLUG (HDCS-G2) is assembled with the MU8 fiber-optic connection system, which was developed by Rosenberger-OSI. With the MU8 connector we have raised once again the high packing density of the PreCONNECT® HIGH DENSITY patchfield.
Heavy Duty 200 - Robust Connectivity System for 2 Fibers
We have enhanced the proven Heavy Duty 200 Connectivity System for you. A rectangular plug and receptacles for various panel mount locations are completing now the connector series. The consistent positive feed-back from our customers in telecommunication, mining, measurement engineering and other industries encouraged us to continue the development of the Heavy Duty series: with the Heavy Duty 200 type a multi purpose IP67 connector system which is proven and available in singlemode and multimode applications and enables the use of detachable optical fiber connections even under adverse circumstances.
Heavy Duty 600 - Hermaphrodite Hybrid Connectivity System
We have completed our Heavy Duty 600 line with a new model for 4 fibers and 2 electrical contacts for power supply. In addition to the broadcast camera connector with 2 fibers and 4 electrical contacts and the 6 fiber type which allows the use of all common fiber types. The electrical currents up to 10 A. The new version allows applications with a high performance data interconnection and an efficient power supply both features are in a robust and handy connector system. The system is IP67 sealed and can be equipped with the proven APC polish singlemode ferrules.

Cooperation with FiberTech GmbH Berlin
Since June 2006 OSI Fiber-Optics will cooperate with FiberTech GmbH Berlin.
The basic for the assumption of production of fiber optic cables with the LaserCONNECT 1000 through FiberTech GmbH is a manufacturer and sales agreement between both companies. The LaserCONNECT 1000 is one of our connectivity systems for industrial high-performance laser systems. This system will also be distributed from June 2006 through our new partner FiberTech.
For over 10 years the FiberTech company is well-known in this branch as a manufacturer of optical silica fibers as well as a manufacturer of fiber optic cables. Through this cooperation OSI Fiber-Optics is expecting maximum of delivery and excellent relationships between the existing and new customer.
19" 3HU distribution module panel improved and enhanced
We have improved and enhanced our 19" 3HU distribution module panel. It is now available with two back plane types:
- With our so called "Z-blades" for tensile and torsion resistant support of 12 OSI PreCONNECT® trunks through easy "Plug-and-Play" replacement of the trunk-cable-dividers at their OSI PreCONNECT®-square-interfaces. The "Z-blades" replace the open trunk supports used so far.
The improvements are:
- The module panel now is closed at rear by means of this
rodent and dust protection.
- The cable guidance now has better installation features
through 45° slants on both sides. - With our so-called "teritary-cable-supports" to support simplex-, duplex- and break-out cables with cable ties. These "teritary-cable-supports" are new and this modular panel enhancement feature now make it even more all-purpose.

The fiber-optic cabling solutions and plug connection systems of OSI were integrated in the internal OB-cabling and to the connecting cables to the set and the equipment vehicle.
The hybrid plug connection system Heavy Duty 1000 and Heavy Duty 600 was applied, combining excellent electrical and optical properties with mechanical and optical stability and user-friendly handling. The special APC 8° grinding prevents reflections at the connection transitions.
To assure the transmission quality of Sony's HDTV-cameras HDC-U-1000 and HDC-U-1500, Sony and Rosenberger OSI Fiber-Optics have integrated the respective interfaces in cameras and camera control units (CCU) in close cooperation. Furthermore, the kevlar strain-relief elements in the light wave cable provides high strain absorbance. In addition, the connection system features high adaptability at different cable types.

Cologne, May 2005 - GEPO TV- und Filmproduktion GmbH has invested in cameras from Sony to upgrade their outside broadcast vans: Now three cameras of type BVP-E30WSPH/U and one super-motion camera of type BVP-9500WSP complete the existing equipment. The portable super-motion camera which operates with triple usual screen change frequency has been equipped for the first time with a fiber optics plug connection system of the Augsburg company OSI Fiber-Optics.
GEPO-TV utilizes the super-motion camera BVP-9500WSP for transmission and recording of sports events. Excellent results could already be achieved at the German Soccer League and the international gymnastics event "Master's Tournament" in Cottbus. "By the complete digital transmission we get even with sizable cable lenghts best picture- and sound quality", said Mr. Michael Gettkandt, Managing Director of GEPO-TV. Fundamental advantages of fiber optics cable are its low weight, easy installation and reduced required space compared to analogue Triax cables.
The three cameras of the type BVP-E30WSPH/U have also proven themselves in daily use. As part of a comprehensive camera series, they are offering high flexibility, because they can be exactly adapted to production requirements. "This has a very positive effect on working. If, for instance, a view finder is missing or one is damaged, we can trouble-free use the view finder of another camera", explains Mr. Gettkandt. Additionally he praises the optionally useable automatic modes as very user-friendly. The BVP-E30WSPH/U can be operated in the aspect ratio 16:9 and 4:3 and is suited for operation at studio- and location shots. It offers highest picture quality and comprehensive functions at a much lower price than common broadcast cameras.
Rapid fiber optics connection with plug connection system by OSI to connect the fiber optics cable with the super-motion camera BVP-9500WSP, Sony and OSI have integrated the respective interfaces into camera and camera control unit (CCU). For this, the hybrid plug connection system Heavy Duty 600 by OSI is used, combining very good electrical and optical properties with mechanical stability and user-friendly handling.
"At the hermaphrodite plug connection system Heavy Duty 600, the front faces of the fiber optic cable are grinded angularly", explains Mr. Jens Woryna, head of German sales office North-East of OSI. The angular grinding (APC 8° grinding) prevents reflections at the connection transmissions. Furthermore, the plug connection system features high adaptability at different cable types.
GEPO-TV GmbH: GEPO-TV has locations in Berlin and Leipzig and operates in the market since 1992. As a service provider for television broadcast stations and production firms, the company provides broadcast technique and staff. Two outside broadcast vans, three mobile cutting vehicles as well as EB-equipment are used.

19" 3HU module panel has been designed to accept our newly-developed OSI PreCONNECT® modules. The OSI PreCONNECT® modules were specially developed to accept our OSI PreCONNECT® standard trunks.
- They offer excellent protection to the connector fanout legs. This modular design offers distinct advantages when compared with our 19" 3HU distribution panel.
- Each OSI PreCONNECT® trunk is perfectly protected inside its own module and can not be affected by panel upgrading or maintenance work.
19" 3+1HU splice module panel improved
We have improved our 19" 3+1HU splice module panel. Installation and handling are more secure.
The improvements are:
- The overpass of the loose-tubes from the tray mounted under the module panel to the splice plug-in modules now is achieved with flexible tubes, which are technically better and more cost-effective than the original dragchains.
- The positioning of the termination points of the loose-tube overpass tubes which are situated below the module panel mounted tray have been moved to the rear. This means improved installation and easier handling. Later plugging and unplugging of splice plug-in modules is both easier and more secure.
